Founded in 2002 by twelve of the original wineries in the area, Woodinville Wine Country was established as a nonprofit membership trade marketing association for the wineries in the city limits. Who understood that collectively their efforts could elevate their own businesses and the Washington Wine Industry as a whole. Today, our core values still reflect the collaborative spirit understanding that together we can grow our region into a world-class destination for the wine enthusiast and culinary adventurer looking to explore the expressions of flavor from across the entire state.
Our primary mission today has expanded looking at the Greater Woodinville region as a whole and enticing travelers from around the world to experience the area as a wine tourism destination like no other. The Association functions as a gateway to exploring Washington Wine and by being the leading resource for consumers and media interested in learning and enjoying themselves in the place where Washington comes to pour.
As a 501c(6) nonprofit membership association, Woodinville Wine Country is overseen by a board of directors who are voted in by the membership annually. The day to day operation and marketing programs are overseen by a hired staff in conjunction with contracted businesses that report to the board of directors.
Funding sources come from membership dues, advertising and sponsorships, events, and grant funding form federal, state, and local sources.
